Showjumping at Sydney Showjumping Club 6th March 2011

Showjumping was of a very high standard at Sydney Showjumping Club on Sunday 6th March with over 180 horses entered for the day.
Several members used the day as a final hit out for their trip to New Zealand at the end of the week to compete in the highly prestigious Horse of the Year Show at Napier in Hawke’s Bay.
George Sanna from Glossodia, the current Australian Showjumping Champion, heads the Australian team, along with Julia Hargreaves from Wilberforce, Brook Dobbin from Victoria, and Cathy Graham from Queensland.
Paul Athanasoff from Glossodia is team reserve and will compete as an individual. Danielle Butcher, Jamie Kermond and Jamie Winning will also compete as individuals. Good luck to all those riders.
Coordinators for the day were Sue Coonan and Karinda Alpert and both were delighted with the success of the day. Courses were designed by Mark Atkins and David Lawrence and despite recent hot and dry weather the grounds were in good condition.
Sydney Showjumping Club will hold their AGM on Tuesday 15th March and their next competition day on Sunday 20th March. Competitors are reminded that all entries must be made online through www.globalentriesonline.com.au

Sydney Showjumping Club gearing up for the Sydney Jumping Championships on 4th and 5th December 2010
Record entries, interstate guests, high profile riders and some exciting new sponsors have the Sydney Showjumping Club on track to run the biggest event on the years calender, the Sydney Jumping Championships on 4th and 5th December 2010 at their Clarendon grounds.
The wettest spring and start to summer in over a decade is playing havoc with the club’s plans however, and Club President, David Lawrence said today, “ At this point we are still running, and will do so unless the ground become "dangerous". The ground is wet, to say the least, but we are committed to provide this show unless it is absolutely impossible or dangerous.”
The SSJC acknowledges the generous support of the following sponsors:
*Claron Property Group * Emcee Equestrian * Magic Millions * *Equitainment.com.au * Winning Appliances * Keeden Contracting Pty Ltd * Peppertree Arcadia * Australian Retail Leasing * Phiten Australia * Oaks Sport Horses * Horse Supplies Online * Helen & Chris Chugg * Brighton Saddleworld * Sharon & Bill Slater *Sydney Equestrian Supplies *Jess Stalling * Global Entries Online * Fitzpatrick Haylage * Top2 Tail Equestrian * Paul Barrat of Tuza Floats * Eco bedding * Dare Photography
Thanks to our Course Designers: Ring 1: Sue Bettington Ring 2: David Sheppard Ring 3: Brad Longhurst Ring 4: Bob Brook
The Sydney Showjumping Club is now, without doubt, the biggest showjumping club in Australia with close to 400 members. It has been in existence for nearly 60 years and has improved markedly from the time of its inception. It has been instrumental in producing the majority of elite Jumpers in this State and boasts the best facilities for competition & training in the country.

Sydney Showjumping Club forced to cancel another showjumping day.
showjumping day at their Clarendon grounds tomorrow, Sunday 5th September.
Heavy rain on Friday night, and the forecast of more to come, made the
decision inevitable.
Club Vice President Mark Atkins said after an inspection of the grounds
today, "It is regrettable that we have had to cancel another showjumping
day, but the ground is too wet and with over 150 entries, the grounds would
not be able to cope with that amount of horse traffic!"
Sydney Showjumping Club has developed their grounds into the premier
showjumping facility in NSW and while the Committee is keen to provide
jumping opportunities for its members, it is vital to maintain the excellent
grass surfaces for which it has become renowned.
