On a weekend when many top showjumping and eventing riders were competing at national interstate titles, the SSJC were delighted to still have nearly 200 entries at their competition day on Sunday 16th November 08.
Local Hawkesbury riders were victorious at the two feature away events: Chris Burton of Wilberforce won the 4 star 3 day event at Adelaide riding Newsprint, and Chris Chugg from Glossodia won the World Cup at Wodonga riding the wonderful stallion Vivant. Congratulations must also go to young Wilberforce rider Jamie Winning who the previous weekend won the World Cup at Shepparton riding Vangello.
At Clarendon the courses in the 3 rings were designed by Mark Atkins and Paul Tridgell, the judges were Lynn McLeod, Fiona McLeod and Juho Looveer.
Popular central coast trainer James Mooney brought a large contingent of horses and students down for the competition for many successes, but it was the performance of James’ young imported warm blood mare Yirrkala Cortina that impressed many observers.
Area 1 of the NSW Pony Clubs held its Teams Showjumping and Horsemanship event at the Sydney Showjumping Club grounds at Clarendon on Saturday 8 November.Three of the junior members of Sydney Showjump Club were selected to represent Area One at the Sydney Royal next year. These were Cassandra Looveer, Elizabeth Koob and Jessica Conran. Chloe de la Vega, was named reserve. Cassandra had won the A-grade Grand Prix, and was a member of the Zone 23 team that won the A-grade AM5; Zone 23 was crowned A-grade Champion team.
SSJC committee are now finalising arrangements for their End of Year Championships on the weekend of 6th & 7th December. The two days of competition is expected to attract the best showjumping horses and riders from all over Australia. For entries and details go to - www.globalentriesonline.com
