Super showjumping at Sydney Showjumping Club 16th May 2010

Showjumping at Sydney Showjumping Club on Sunday 16th May was a relaxed and successful event, with beautiful autumn weather. The major refurbishment of arena three has been completed and minus the bank, this improved arena is now back in action. The Sydney Showjumping Club is now without a doubt the premier showjumping venue in Australia and the Committee is looking forward with excitement to their next feature event, the Mid Year Championships on the 18th July.

Convener for the day, Karinda Alpert said, “We are so pleased with the day, but would like to remind competitors to always check www.globalentriesonline.com to be sure they comply with pre entry requirements. Payment can now be made on line. We will be holding our next training day on Sunday 6th June.”

Judges were Maureen Masters, Robert and Susan Nault and Paul Tridgell & Mark Atkins designed the courses.

Entries were strong in all classes with the 1.20m class having over 30 entries. Local couple Chris Burton and Julia Hargreaves quinelled this class with Haruzac and Tattiana. Chris also won the D Grade with Contendah, and Julia picked up 3rd, 4th and 5th placings on Suzannah Willis's Blue Jay, Tattiana and young Vegas.

All showjumping supporters were glad to hear of veteran Course designer and SSJC life member Bob Brook’s recovery from recent heart surgery and return from hospital.

There was more great excitement about the results from Linz in Austria, where long time SSJC member Chris Chugg from Glossodia riding his brilliant Warmblood stallion Vivant led the Australian team to a second place in the Nations Cup. Paul Athanasoff, James Paterson Matt Williams were the other Australian team members.
